Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival

Mark your calendar for next year’s Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival in March 2013.  Come out and see what all the excitement is about!  It’s way more than just flowers….

Festival attendees browsed and shopped at over 40 vendor and exhibitor booths, attended one or more of the seven specialty workshops involving photography, wildflower identification and landscaping, got messy in the Kids’ Zone with face painting, arts & crafts and live entertainment, enjoyed a selection of beer and wine while listening to The Bill Saitta Group provide great jazz music, and participated in an interpretive hike or walk in search of wildflowers.  Overall, more than 1300 guests enjoyed a picture-perfect day at the National Monument Visitor Center on Saturday, March 3, 2012 while attending the Annual Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival in Palm Desert.

We would not be able to provide such a great community event free for residents and visitors to the Coachella Valley without the support of our sponsors, donors and volunteers. Please support those who support the Friends and your Monument!  Click here for a list of supporters: CVWF Supporters.

Each year we hold a contest to choose the artwork to be used for our official festival poster.  This year’s winner was Diane McClary.

Click here for more information on how to enter your orignial art work into our Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival Art Contest.  Entries will be due by December 31, 2012.

Festival logo items (reusable tote bags, t-shirts and festival posters) are still available in the Monument Visitor Center Gift Shop.  Get yours before they’re gone!

Each year we review the surveys completed by guests and evaluate
the festival to come up with ideas to make it even better the following year.
This year we increased our food selection and added a Beer and Wine Garden
showcasing live jazz music under a huge shade tent.  We also expanded the Kids Zone having a theme of Peter Rabbit showcasing Beatrix Potter Society doing readings from The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

Because the festival is attended by residents and visitors to the whole valley and the National Monument encompasses 280,000 acres from La Quinta to Palm Springs, the festival name of Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival better encompasses our visitor base.  We are already starting to plan for next year’s festival with new ideas to keep the festival exciting for new and past attendees.  If you attended this year’s festival and would like to make a comment or suggestion, please send an email to friends@desertmountains.org.  We appreciate your input and hope you will join us next March for the Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival!
