GeoCaching in the National Monument

Join us for the 3rd annual “Geocaching in the National Monument”. This exciting and unique “treasure hunt”, presented by the Friends of the Desert Mountains in support of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, will take place Saturday, January 30, 2010, from 9am-4pm. All participants should meet at the National Monument Visitor Center at 9:00am for a brief introduction and to receive a coordinate list that will act as a guide to find all 10 geocaches. Each cache will have a sign-in sheet and a “treasure” from the National Monument. It is recommended you bring 10 small items, or S.W.A.G., to exchange for items in the caches. Participants must have their own GPS unit to participate.

Caches will be located on trails throughout the National Monument, covering Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and La Quinta. Participants will have 24 hours to find the 10 caches hidden along the trails before they are removed until next year!
